A material that showcases its full diversity in an impressive presentation
Visitors experience the material wood from different perspectives at the Herbstmesse in the Messequartier Dornbirn. The thematic focus “Wood” brings together key exhibition areas and highlights why wood plays an important role in the region – in business, craftsmanship, and design.
From tree to material
A tree trail leads through the world of the most important native wood species. Visitors learn how the trees grow, what characteristics define their wood, and what it is suitable for in construction and design. Workpieces concretely show how the materials are used and make the differences tangible.
The wood construction section puts outstanding projects in the spotlight. In cooperation with the Vorarlberger Holzbaukunst a video gallery on large screens showcases the winners of the wood construction awards from recent years. Around 50 awarded projects can be viewed from various perspectives, providing insight into the diversity of building with wood.
Wood craftsmanship in detail
The specialist exhibition on wood craftsmanship highlights wood construction from different angles. In cooperation with the Werkraum Bregenzerwald wood joints are presented that visitors can examine closely. Additionally, the specialist companies of the association “die venstermacher” showcase their solutions around wooden building components.
The wood design exhibition area focuses on works by Vorarlberg carpenters and wood designers. Furniture, journeyman pieces, and objects from various fields are displayed. The range extends from designer furniture to instrument making, revealing the creative possibilities of the material.
Wooden worlds as a shared framework
The individual areas come together to form the wooden worlds of the Herbstmesse 2026. Complementary exhibitor stands expand the offering and showcase further applications and ideas related to wood.
This creates a tour that combines information, craftsmanship, and design, making wood’s full diversity tangible.
